It has always been known that music is good for the soul, but now it is scientifically proven that music is also good for the developing brain. Scientists used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to look at the cortical thickening of 232 children between the ages of 6 and 18 to determine the impact of learning how to play a musical instrument and brain development. The study is the largest of its kind to date, and the results showed that children who played an instrument had greater attentional control, better working memory and organizational skills, and were less prone to anxiety and depression. Unfortunately, only about 75% of children regularly play an instrument.
Luckily, PlayAbility Toys understands how important music is to the positive development of children. Our Drum Therapy Kit offers children the opportunity to practice musical skills while improving their coordination and their memory skills. Our Laser Band also allows children to create and record music while providing a wide range of developmental benefits, from motor skills, auditory and visual procession, to hand-eye coordination, and more. Our musical products allow children with varying abilities to experience the joy of music in a productive and non-overwhelming way.
